                        About Us:

Reid Neilsen is an artist-blacksmith currently residing in Southern Colorado, U.S.A. He began blacksmithing over ten years ago and has been in love with the hammer ever since. He has done it as a hobby and professionally, working as a full-time blacksmith. The hammer and anvil are "in his blood" so to speak, as several generations of his ancestors were blacksmiths. Reid, his wife Jenna and their son Wesley run the forge as a side business.

Reid has a broad range of interests artistically. He has done custom work in many genres: ultra-modern and geometric, arts and crafts, rustic, medieval & gothic, Spanish-Southwest, colonial, organic and even art-deco. Reid's real love is reproductions of historic ironwork. His strength has always been in re-creating the past through his art. Some of his favorites are ancient and medieval themed ironwork. Reid tries to use only the traditional methods employed by blacksmiths of yesterday when possible (traditional joinery, no machining, etc.). This ensures that the original "flavor" of the old ironwork still comes through - hammer marks, forge scale and all. This is the beauty of the old iron - it is a visible reminder that this object has been crafted by an artisan's hand.

When you buy a piece of our ironwork, you are really buying a piece of history. This is the "real deal" stuff - not a cheap imitation of hand-forged hardware, or made abroad by less-than-skilled "smiths". The items we make are really individual works of art. They are a tangible link to man-kind's 3,500 year old tradition of iron-smithing.

We hope that you choose to enhance your collection, home or living history impression with our fine products. We think you will be glad you did.
